Whether you’re planting for yourself, your family, or as a meaningful Mother’s Day gift, there’s no better time to start growing your own food.

10% off raised beds May 1–10, 2026

Our raised beds are wonderful gifts for a mother, a grandmother, a family, or even for yourself. After all, one of the sweetest ways to honor the people who cared for us is to grow food that cares for us right back.

There is something magical about stepping outside and picking dinner from your own garden. A leaf of lettuce that actually tastes alive. A tomato warm from the sun. Herbs snipped fresh while supper is on the stove. Growing your own food brings flavor, beauty, and delight back into everyday life. It helps us reconnect with the real taste of vegetables and with the natural rhythms that nourish both body and spirit.

Our cedar raised beds arrive filled with our nutrient- and microbe-rich compost — our innovative soil substitute for leafy greens and fruiting vegetables like tomatoes. Our method uses worm castings (worm poop) as natural fertilizer which also makes food gardening easier and produces bigger harvests. Unlike ordinary soil blends, our compost is alive with the nutrients and beneficial microbes plants need to thrive. View raised bed details

Happy Mother’s Day and happy planting

Deep Roots Project was created in 2018 by Estelle Carol and co-founder Will Schreiber to honor Estelle’s mother, Ruth Carol, a professor of nutrition who believed deeply in the power of healthy food. Ruth understood something simple and profound: good food is not a luxury. It is the foundation of a happy, productive life. Her legacy continues to inspire everything we do, from the way we teach people to grow food to the way we think about health, community, and joy.
